Medusa at Neudata's San Francisco Data and AI Summit: Widening the Net

Medusa founder Petr Merkuryev moderated the panel "Widening the net: AI tools for sourcing in private equity and beyond" at Neudata's San Francisco Data and AI Summit on 29 October. The panel brought together Tenley Foran (Senior Director, Private Equity Innovation, Bain & Company), Nico Goldberg (Founder, NS Partners), Carlos Castro (Head of Engineering, ICONIQ Capital), Marguerite Morgan (Senior Data Scientist, ICONIQ Capital) and Jerry Ye (Partner, BITKRAFT Ventures).

The starting point was that any deal team can now scan the whole universe of companies, so the question was what is still scarce. The panel worked through where the data behind these tools runs thin and where AI still fails, which signals are worth paying for once more data is not always better, build versus buy now that building a tool is easy and making it production-grade is not, and what decides whether a tool gets used at all: the firm's culture, leadership backing for outreach on the deals the data flags, and tools that sit inside the interfaces the team already works in. It closed with the data each panel member would buy if someone sold it, from advertising spend by company and founder readiness to meet investors to the true return on tokens.

Petr's recap is on LinkedIn: Widening the net: what is still scarce. Programme: Neudata San Francisco Data and AI Summit 2026.
